We are definitely in high gear mode as both college and pros are must see, must be involved events.
Watching, betting, and mostly second guessing is 99% of why we put the rest of life on hold from September until Madonna sings at halftime in February.
Trends, angles, look aheads, situational play are stripped from our collective minds when we hit the two minute warning. We all become Vince Lombardi and Sigmund Freud in one tiny little bottle.
Players, pundits and media experts give us a lot of ammo, and don’t exclude the coaches. They definitely get lost although never admitting their error in judgment. All you Dallas money line players will get my intention.
And, what was Colts receiver Pierre Garcon thinking, snatching at least a chance of victory into the jaws of defeat? Vikings coach Leslie "down goes" Frazier’s facial expression looks like your first call into the principal’s office.
Now to the college ranks. How could a team leading by 30 have an impact of maybe the entire day? Watch the ending of the Oklahoma-Kansas game and look at the parlay ticket in your left front pocket.
Yes, the BCS rankings came out Monday. Again they are a lot to do about nothing and making it darn near impossible for a team that might have a miraculous season or start back of the pack to prove whether they are this year’s best team or simply bowing to a system entrenched in its way.
How about this line from "The Godfather?" Clemson coach Dabo Sweeney unbelievably runs the table but gets no higher than fourth. Dabo reminds you of Fredo telling Michael, "I’m smart and I got passed over."
Make no mistake, we all can take a part in this movie called Football 101. And, it is only Oct. 15! By the way, the World Series starts this week and, other than unusual liability connected to the Cardinals, your normal core crowd will be involved.
Maybe you can take a breather for a few days. Nah.
Take care. Jimmy V.
