Congratulations go out to Bruce G., who wins $6,000 for his perfect card in Week 9 of our Progressive Carryover Football Contest. Bruce plays at the Lucky’s in Elko at the Red Lion, our very first race and sports book to open back in July. While Bruce’s winnings were a fraction of the $48,000 won the previous week by Steve J. in Vegas, it can be argued that Bruce pulled off the more impressive feat. Many of us at Lucky’s were surprised to find out Sunday night that there was one player alive after a tricky day of football, including a victory by the previously winless Bengals over the Jaguars. On Monday night, Bruce needed the Steelers, which were 2 ½ point underdogs at the Redskins. Pittsburgh rolled to an easy 23-6 to seal Bruce’s win. There’s still $48,000 up for grabs in our contest over the next eight weeks, and it will be interesting to see how many winners we have. One more note: For soccer fans, Lucky’s debuted a soccer parlay card last week. We believe it to be the only such card in Nevada. We include games from around the word, so be sure to check it out and give us your feedback. |

Wagering has been brisk at Lucky's since we opened at the Plaza in downtown Vegas on Aug. 1. There was a line to place the first bet before we opened the book at 8:30 a.m. that Friday morning and business has continued at an excellent clip since then. There's been quite a buzz among sports bettors about our large and unique wagering menu. People are stopping in to see what kind of cool stuff we're taking action on. The positive press coverage of Lucky's continued today. Jeff Haney wrote a great column in today's Las Vegas Sun about our extensive betting menu that includes lines on every game for all 17 weeks of the Pro Football season. We also got a nice mention in the USA Today's Game On! blog. |

Friday, August 1 is an exciting day for Lucky's Race & Sports Book as we officially open our first Las Vegas location downtown at the Plaza Hotel & Casino. The Lucky's sign is up and we are ready for action at the Plaza, which is said to the the oldest continuously operating sports book in downtown Vegas. Located at One Main Street, at the head of Fremont Street, the Plaza also home to the largest book in all of downtown and the very cool Dome Ultra Sports Lounge, which will have a betting window open during football season. We are planning renovations, including new flat-screen TVs and betting stations, in the coming months that will modernize the book while retaining it's "old Vegas" charm. Lucky's will have -- by far -- the biggest and most exciting wagering menu downtown. Dave Tuley of ViewFromVegas.com wrote a terrific column for Saturday's Daily Racing Form that mentions some of our extensive betting options. |
