Exciting times for Lucky's (August 24)

With football season rapidly approaching, there's a lot happening at Lucky's Race & Sports Books and we're working hard to make sure we provide the best possible sports wagering experience.

On Monday, August 25, we open our fifth location: Casino Fandango in Carson City. We're excited to bring our premium brand and extensive wagering menu to the nicest property in Nevada's capital. Customers customers will see the same wagering options that have been popular at other Lucky's throughout the state, including pages of unique props and futures on everything from Pro Football to Golf to Auto Racing.

We've started sign-ups for our Pro Football Progressive Carryover Contest, which offers more than $100,000 in prize money. The weekly contest is completely free to enter with $6,000 up for grabs to any player who can select a perfect 15-for-15 winners (without the pointspread) during the Sunday and Monday night games. If nobody selects all the games correctly, the $6,000 will roll over and be added to the following week's prize money. You can play the contest at any Lucky's Sports Book, plus all the Terrible's Casinos in southern Nevada: Terrible's Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Terrible's Primm Valley, Buffalo Bill's and Whiskey Pete's in Primm and Terrible's Lakeside and Terrible's Town in Pahrump.

Speaking of Terrible's, there was an article in Friday's Las Vegas Review-Journal that revealed Lucky's will operating the books at all six of aforementioned Herbst Gaming properties, subject to gaming approval. This is an exciting development for us and we look forward to taking over these books, greatly strengthening our distribution in southern Nevada.

In addition to the Review-Journal story, Lucky's continues to receive lots of positive press coverage. We're honored that our location at the Plaza received the highest rating (three H's) by Jeff Haney in his bettor's guide to sports books in Saturday's Las Vegas Sun .

A new era for Nevada sports books began Thursday when the gaming regulation banning the use of cell phones and other two-way communication devices was lifted. It's been a bit strange to see people talking on their cell phones and text messaging within our books over the last few days, but by all accounts the new freedom has not been abused and customers have been respectful of others. Lucky's policy is to allow the use of cell phones in its books, but their use is not allowed while near the counter, while in line or in any manner that disturbs other customers.
