To maintain any longevity in this business whether betting or booking, you never want to overreact or be stubborn.
After watching Saturday’s college games it makes you look just a tad differently when looking ahead not only the remainder of the season but a few years down the line. Looking at the top 15 teams it is fairly obvious they out-athlete the remaining teams by a vast margin. Couple that with these extraordinary athletic kids and coaches playing spread with no huddle offense.
Can you imagine Woody Hayes coaching Oklahoma State?
By the way, UNLV 80, Oklahoma State 70. That’s the Rebels season scoring (40 came against Hawaii) compared to the 70 rolled up by the Cowboys last Saturday against Kansas. Adjustments have been made but the oddsmakers are clearly behind the curve of the new style offense, which centers around speed.
Coaches are scoring style points late in the game to get the bigger bowl invite and money. Four touchdown spreads are becoming commonplace whereas a generation ago finding one might be the norm for a Saturday card. Adapt or find a new line of work no matter what side of the counter you are on.
Although the outcome of the games might not have been in doubt, the number was in play as both Jets-Pats and San Diego-Denver created great theatre. Al Michaels and Brent Musburger would have a field day with these two if they were behind the mike. The "fun" never ends kids.
Take care, Jimmy V.
