Last week of NFL's regular season "quirky" |

The last NFL regular season games lived up to that "quirky" feel I thought. Teams in must wins and some looking to make their vacation plans.
Numbers moved around all week long dictated by situations and teams that sat some or a lot of players. The big line jump was the Lions opening a favorite at the frozen tundra and getting pounded up to nearly a touchdown only to see Matt "Johnny Unitas" Flynn throw a 6-TD game as Green Bay won 45-41.
Business was a little slow early in the week but picked up considerably the last hour before kickoff. It was good as far as action having the Dallas-Giants matchup determining the winner of the NFC East in what was basically a playoff game.
It’s always good having the marquee game later in the day as we see starting with the playoffs this Saturday. The first game will be the two upstarts in regard to playoff teams with Houston hosting the Bengals. That’s followed by the "pinball" game with the Lions at the Saints. This total could end up close to 60. I can’t remember if a pro game ever got that high.
Sunday we open with the Falcons coming to play the Dallas killers who call themselves Giants. Great matchup for an opening round, but all eyes and ears will come later that day with Pittsburgh traveling to Mile High.
Though the Tebow legend is losing a little steam, this game will draw plenty of attention. Ticket count will probably be at least 65-35 for Pittsburgh. We should have a separate window just for Steelers teasers, but stranger things have happened. Glad Saints and Steelers will be in the two hole for the opening week of the playoffs.
Quirky isn’t a bad word now that you think about it.
Take care, Jimmy V.
